2024 was a big year for all of the choirs of Young Voices of Melbourne, establishing our reputation as one of Australia’s leading youth choirs. After kicking off the year with a set at the Prime Minister’s welcome event at the ASEAN summit, YVM and Exaudi continued the year with several high-profile performances including three concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, tours to the National Folk Festival (Canberra) and the World Choir Games (New Zealand), appearances at the National Kodaly Conference, and two performances at the Melbourne Recital Centre. This was on top of several of our regular concerts for the YVM community, celebrating the hard work that our singers have put in all year.
In our final concert of the year, we farewelled Founding Director Mark O’Leary, who is stepping down as Artistic Director of Young Voices of Melbourne after a wonderful 35 years at the helm. Juliana Kay will lead the organisation from 2025.
